Take advantage of our second journey to the Beaujolais Country on a specially crafted itinerary. Make exclusive visits to small and large vineyards with many tasting, chateaux, museums, private homes, an oil mill, a chocolate laboratory, and some exciting outdoor activities. Explore historical and cultural sites revealing the rich treasures of the region while discovering the best restaurants.

We will assemble at the airport on the afternoon of Friday, April 21, 2006 and return on Sunday, April 30. Once in the Beaujolais region, we will travel in our private air-conditioned coach to different sites and return in the evening to our *** hotel, eliminating the inconvenience of moving to a new hotel each day. On the way back, time has been set aside to discover Paris on your own or to just relax.

The Grand Conseil of “l’Ordre des Compagnons du Beaujolais” will hold a very exceptional Chapter dinner with the participation of worldwide Devoirs (other Chapters) to welcome our group . Also" l’Interprofessionnelle des Vins du Beaujolais" has scheduled a reception and banquet at the Chateau de Bagnols, proclaimed France’s most exquisitely beautiful chateau hotel.

Price includes airfare, trains, hotels in the Beaujolais and in Paris, all land arrangements and .all meals but Saturday 04/29 and Sunday 04/30 in Paris .
Compagnons in good standing will receive a 15% discount for themselves and a guest

Lyon 11:50 AM – Welcome by the Members of the Grand Conseil of the Compagnons
Coach to Villefranche-sur- Saône and the Beaujolais region
Check In to *** “Hôtel Plaisance” Light lunch at “la Fontaine Bleue”, at the hotel
Afternoon at rest
7:00 PM Board Coach
Evening with the Compagnons -. International Chapter with the participation of other worldwide Devoirs. Introduction of the New York Devoir with a Special Induction Ceremony (extra charge for being inducted at this event). traditional Beaujolais dinner.

Day 3 Sunday April 23

9:45 AM Board Coach to Salles Aubuissonnas
A Cloister build in 950 AD and spared by the French Revolution, the church with its 11th century choir, austere and powerful door and its elegant bell-tower . Feel the calm universe and the poetry of an architecture unlike any other.
Reception at City Hall by the Mayor
Lunch at a traditional Beaujolais restaurant
Visit the " Hospice de Belleville " The foundation of the Hotel Dieu goes back to around 1733 . This building is one of the few to have retained all its wards with the original furniture.
Saint Jean d’Ardières – “Maison des Beaujolais”
An introduction to œnology followed by a traditional dinner, focusing on the harmony between food and wine

 
 
Day 4 Monday April 24
Breakfast Buffet
9:00 AM Board Coach
Meet with the winemakers. Reception / Lunch by Mr. Stephane Aviron from Potel-Aviron, in their cellar.
Visit Beaujeu, historic capital of the Beaujolais. Visit the oil mill with its centuries old stone. and continue in the heart of the Beaujolais country with a reception in Veaux-en-Beaujolais also known as Clochemerle. By " The Confrerie des Gosiers Secs" Dinner in a farm auberge

 

 

 
 

 
Day 5 Tuesday April 25
Breakfast Buffet
8:30 AM Board Coach for a Guided visit of Lyon
Walk along the river bank through the largest open market in the region
Explore the central food market , lunch at a traditional “Bouchon”.
Visit the Textiles and Decorative Arts Museum – 2000 years of textiles, silk and costumes from BC to now. Visit the city and historic district – the largest existing Renaissance city after Venice -Reception at City Hall by the Mayor of Lyon
8:00 PM Dinner at Restaurant "BOCUSE" at Collonges au Mont d'Or

 
 
Day 6 Wednesday April 26

Breakfast Buffet
9:00 AM Board Coach
Reception by Jean-Paul Dubost ,"Domaine du Tracot " at Lantignie Visit of the winery and Lunch in the cellar
Afternoon "Circuit des Cretes" Guided visit of 9 Villages , enjoy the scenic views from the top of the hills , walk trough the villages , meet the local craftsmen , learn the origin and history of their trade.
5:00PM reception by the President of ‘The Grand Conseil”
Return to the hotel
7:00 PM Departure for an evening at the Château de Bagnols
A magnificent 13th century castle . Enjoy cocktails in the “salle des tonneaux" among barrels from the 19th century , and Dinner in the cellar surrounded by authentic presses from 15th , 16th, 17th centuries.

 

 

 
 




 

Day 7 Thursday April 27

Cluny
Visit of the old site of the Abbey . The Church of Cluny was a symbol of power and the largest Christian sanctuary until the construction of Saint Peter in Rome and a marvel of Roman architecture. Cluny for a long time the center of a powerful empire is full of history
Lunch at traditional local restaurant.
Visit of the museum of Solutre , the largest collection of stones and prehistory sites in Europe as well as the world largest museum retracing 25000 years of hunting
Julienas – exceptional view of the vineyards, the Saône valley, and the “Chaîne des Alpes”.
Visit the cellar of the 17th century church.
Visit the winery of "Chateau des Capitans" a joint venture of Georges Duboeuf and the Deutsch Family in New York. Tasting of the estates’ products.
Dinner at the Restaurant 'Le Coq au Vin" in Julienas
Return to the hotel

Visit and Degustation of Chocolat Richart at Saint André-de-Corcy
Lunch/ Buffet with the Rhone Regional Conseil President . Afternoon of Shopping in Lyon
Board TGV at Lyon Perrache, leaving at 5:45 PM, arriving in Paris at 6:55 PM
